Energy Upgrades

How Upgrades Work:

Energy upgrades utilize the latest & greatest technology to replace old and outdated equipment throughout your house. All of our solar panel systems come with new energy upgrades. The updated equipment requires less electricity to operate at a higher frequency, ultimately lowering your utility bill and saving you money. Our energy upgrades include pool pumps, water heaters, and attic insulation, the biggest contributors to potential energy loss.

Here's A Quick Overview Of Our Different Upgrades:

a pool

Upgrade One

Variable-Speed Pool Pump

A variable-speed pump (VS) operates with a smaller motor to limit the pace of water flow. They have eight programmable speeds and a built-in timer. Our Pentair® pool pumps are ENERGY STAR® certified to use about 90% less energy than a traditional single-speed unit.

a hybrid water heater

Upgrade Two

Hybrid Water Heater

Unlike a traditional heater that uses electrical resistance to warm water, hybrid units use electricity to power individual components inside the tank to draw ambient heat from the surrounding air. The heated air is then transferred to the water and pushed throughout the house.

Upgrade Three

Fiberglass Insulation

Fiberglass products act as a barrier to heat flowing in and out of your house. They are made up of densely packed bales of cellulose and fed through a blower into your attic. We install CertainTeed® R-30 fiberglass, both flame & moisture resistant and less likely to settle over time.

What Technology Is Inside Of A Hybrid Heater?

Also known as a heat pump water heater (HPWH), hybrid water heaters capture heat from the surrounding environment and push it into the appliance's evaporator coil. The coil, which is packed full of refrigerant, absorbs the heat from the air and sends it below to the electric heating elements. The heat exchanger heats the water to the set temperature and sends it off to all of the showers, faucets, etc.

As the expulsion of hot air in a hairdryer, a hybrid water heater uses related technology to heat water. These heaters perform better in warm climates, which is why we always install them in the warmer parts of the house. Garages and closets are the prime locations.

Individual components inside of the heater make it efficient, but the real magic is the water tank. Like a tankless water heater, the pump will not run all of the time. And since you control the temperature, you decide how much energy you want to consume.

What Is A Variable-Speed Pool Pump?

If you own a pool, you understand the financial obligations to keep it maintained, including the hefty electricity bill at the end of the year. Luckily for you, Pentair created the variable-speed pool pump.

This innovative pump utilizes what is known as a permanent magnet motor, the same one found in electric cars, to allow for custom flow rates and time of circulation settings. With a variable-speed pump, you can circulate your water's flow rates for a longer period of time on a lower power setting without the added energy consumption. How? Friction. The reduced water flow creates less friction, making the entire system more efficient, 90% more efficient to be accurate. These pumps run smoother, quieter, and last twice as long as the single-speed and two-speed pumps.

Why Is Fiberglass Insulation Better Than Normal Insulation?

Loose-fill fiberglass insulation is the premium choice of homeowners. According to the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association, Inc., 90% of homes are insulated, and adding insulation is the most cost-effective way to save money on your utility bills.

Loose-fill insulation is engineered to provide consistent low-dust coverage and provide a high R-Value with less substance. The substance is made of recycled and renewable materials, making it the perfect eco-friendly choice.

Unlike other insulation products, CertainTeed fiberglass installation is built to last and will not settle, corrode, or decay over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

(About Energy Upgrades)

+

Yes. Most saltwater pools have around 3,000 salt parts per million, well within the operating range. Levels above 20,000 are when the pump would start to malfunction. To give you perspective, the ocean has about 25,000 salt parts per million.

+

Like a single speed pool pump, you can run it for 8-10 hours a day. However, it is important to note that a variable speed pool pump could run up to 24 hours a day to ensure proper and optimal water circulation.

+

No. Hybrid water heaters have no flame in the unit. There are no exhaust fumes that exit the heater nor release CO2.

+

Yes, but it's comparable to a small portable fan. Most HPWH's generate 45-50 decibels or so when they operate.

+

No, so don't stress over this dangerous fiber. Asbestos can be found in older homes through their piping insulation, attic insulation, or roofing adhesive. If you suspect your home might have asbestos, perform this quick test: look for pebbles, which have a grayish-brown or silvery-gold color and look like stones. Loose-fill insulation is made from cellulose and asbestos-free.
